About Wes Lamoureux

Born in California, Wes was raised in a career Marine Corps family living mostly in California, Florida, Virginia and North Carolina. Active in scouting from an early age, Wes learned to whittle his own neckerchief slides and the fondness for carving began. He started carving decoys in 1984 after visiting a waterfowl festival on the eastern shore of Maryland.

Soon thereafter, Wes joined a carving club in Northern Virginia and began to enter his art in competitions throughout the Mid-Atlantic region. Not wanting to part with his original creations, he decided to share his art form through the photographic medium, and Wood Duck Press was born!

Not only was Wes the son of a career Marine, he himself was a Marine. After service in Vietnam, he left the Marines with the rank of Captain. He then returned to college where he earned a masters degree in business from the University of Southern California.

From the mid-seventies until now Wes has been active in commercial real estate, having started out in San Diego, progressing on to the metro Washington D.C. area, and finally to his present-day home in middle Tennessee. His real estate development company, Lamoureux Properties, is active in greater Nashville, with offices located in Brentwood.
